Calgary’s #1 Choice In Fitness Boot Camps… Here’s Why..

Some Specifics About Commando Cardio Boot Camp

Commando Cardio Fitness Boot Camp is an outdoor workout designed to help you burn fat, build muscle and get stronger. This means you will look great as well as increase your fitness level to a standard that would allow you to pass the Canadian Army entrance standards. In other words, you will not only look amazingly fit… You’ll actually BE FIT..

*Important It’s important to note that you must, at a minimum, be able to jog for two minutes and be cleared for vigorous exercise. This is because we travel as we workout. We’ll start Commando at the parking lot, then take off jogging. This is also why you need to show up on time… or get left wondering where the hell everybody is.

Now, we’ll never leave anyone behind, but the constant moving from location to location is part of what makes us burn so many damn calories!

What’s Different About Commando Cardio?

While you may be able to find cheaper fitness classes per session, they are not boot camps taught by an ex army Canadian soldier. You also won’t find another trainer that is willing to do the work throughout the week for you, to give you exactly what you need, BASED ON YOUR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS.

Sign up for CommandoCardio, and show up. I’LL TAKE CARE OF THE REST FOR YOU.

That means answering your questions, showing you the right exercise form (continuously), giving a shit about how you do, and helping you with your eating.

Beyond Boot Camp – Something You Should Know

Back in 2002, after I got out of the military and was finished with competitive bodybuilding I knew I wanted to keep my cardio up. I didn’t just want to be strong and full of muscle, I wanted the whole package. A Lean, Mean, Beach Ready Machine.

The thing was… I didn’t want to do complicated step classes, hours on a treadmill or something bizarre that just came out of the fitness industry money-mill. (prancercise much?)

I didn’t want to be stuck inside during the summer either…

We needed real fitness, minus the spandex! So I started my own class. There were 3 people to start. They were my personal training clients that I was keeping accountable to get their cardio done.

Then more people showed up. Then one day someone said “This is an awesome boot camp!” Being ex-military, I was like “THIS is NOT boot camp“. Boot camp was WAY different and WAY harder then this… but people kept calling it that and it was the newest thing on the market… so I went with it.

And that is the great story of how CommandoCardio came to be… the end. Smootch. Goodnight.

Seriously though, I get personally invested in EACH AND EVERY PERSON that joins my bootcamp.

What Every Boot Camp Includes

  1. The Workouts. You don’t have to think about a thing. Show up, I’ll take care of the rest.
  2. The Nutrition Program. You will be given a complete “done for you” eating plan along with helpful suggestions to make sure the food is easy to prepare, you’re never hungry, and you lose weight. BUT, you won’t get SKINNY FAT. You’ll get stronger and leaner.
  3. The Support. You will receive check up Q&A calls where you can ask me any questions and get answers to any challenges (fitness stuff only, I’m not Jillian Michaels) you are personally facing. I can send you exercise demonstration videos, offer tips, tricks and simply sort out any obstacle you are facing.
  4. RESULTS WITH PROOF So bottom line is, you’re going to get a really great fitness trainer (me) to take you through your awesome workouts. I will take care of your nutrition for you. I will answer ANY questions you have so you can conquer any obstacles that may have been in your way before. We are going to get you faster, leaner and stronger… and you’re going to look it too.

P.S. – Here is what just a few people just like you had to say about Commando Cardio “Fitness Boot Camps:

“You Will Be Sure To See Results!”

“I love Rays style , you don’t need any equipment. All the routines he gives you can be done in your own living room. For the first time in a long time, I look forward to my daily exercise, as he manages to switch things up and keep you interested! Ray is honest and realistic when it comes to your goals, as long as your willing to work you will be sure to see results!”

“I Dropped 30 lbs Of 100% Fat”

Boot camp weight loss I had my doubts that Ray would be able to live up to all the hype that was surrounding Commando Cardio after all I was starting his program at 323 lbs. But after doing it for the first month, I couldn’t believe the butt kicking I got. In that one month alone I dropped 30 lbs of 100% fat and gained some mean lean solid muscle mass and weighed in at 295 lbs!!!

I ran into this question a lot when we first started boot camps in Calgary way back in 2003 after I finished my tour in Bosnia.

This is one reason I provide video demonstrations of the exercises and other tools for you so that you can practice them in privacy if need be.

The answer is: “You’re always ready for a fitness boot camp… Boot camps are for people that want to improve their current fitness level!”.

Our workouts are scalable. What does scalable mean? It means that we can adjust EVERYTHING so that EVERYONE gets the workout they need. I may have you doing pushups on your knees while someone else is crushing it with one arm pushups at the same time.

Why Commando Cardio Boot Camp Is Always Fun… and never boring

Because we never do the same thing twice but we always work these areas so you can get better and better each time out.

Don’t Worry If You Can’t Do Something I only care about your personal drive and intensity, not your capability. There are lots of people that can’t do pushups. I’ll take care of you and offer a variation so that you get the workout you need.

If you want fast results and are willing to put in the effort, this is where you need to be.

Bring It On!!
By Scott PookI have known Ray through circle of friends for a many years and he was always telling me to come work out with him. I finally got up the nerve and joined his Boot Camp in June 2009. I did his camp for 4 months and saw so many results in such a short time. While I have always been an active guy and have done various sports my whole life I was not int the shape I was years ago. I was for sure dreading the first class as I had not done anything for many years and knew that I was about to have my butt handed to me on platter. Yes it was handed to me a few times ok many times. I had issues walking the next day and I hurt in places I never new existed but it was a good hurt as I knew my body was getting the work out it so much desired and needed.

I feeling like the old healthy me again and I loved it. Ray and the other boot camp members inspired and pushed me to do whatever was thrown at me. Sometimes excelling, sometimes stumbling and sometimes making me think WOW I never knew I had that in me (the grueling 7.5 km run with all the fun stuff in between).

I noticed my body getting definition quickly, felt stronger and I noticed my lung capacity becoming larger as the classes went on. Ray made working out fun and exciting each session which was a big thing for me as I hate the gym atmosphere.

I always looked forward to Mon and Thurs as I knew I was going to work out and push myself to better my body and health level. I would highly recommend Rays Boot Camp to anyone who needs that extra push by someone who may be hard at times but he does it cause he wants you to succeed and become the best you can be. I am dreading but excited for class to start in April as I have totally let winter take the best of me. In April I am turning 40 and I want to be in the best shape of my life in my 40s. So here I come BURPIES, 30-30-30 and all the other fun stuff Ray has in store for us. There will be no “gopher holes” for this guy this year.

Just want to say that if you want someone to work with you who cares and who keeps you honest in your routines , then Rays the ONE ! I have seen so many bootcamps where they don’t watch your form when doing exercises and he does – and he knows what you are capable of and will push you to that limit . His workouts are by no means easy , but they do work and if you are honest with yourself in your workouts then he is the guy to contact .Larry Stuart

The classes encourage you to go outside of your comfort zone and really push yourself to do well! Awesome bootcamp all around!Dawn

Hi Ray,I was out at a Christmas party last night and got talking about your bootcamp classes. I thought you would like to hear what a great reputation you have from others in the ‘Business”. Turns out the woman I was talking to is a personal trainer and knew of you, said that your name was well known in the community and that you were well respected and were one of the few that actually knew what they were doing.

Its always nice to hear great reviews…

Also I wanted to send my best wishes to you and your family over this holiday season

Hey Ray,Erica here! Just wanted to thank you, I had an awesome time at your boot camp (I hate working out and you definitely made it fun, hard but fun). I got a lot more out of it than I had expected to, exceeded my expectations!

Thanks again!

Thanks so much for being a wonderful, awesome kick-ass trainer!!! I was just telling my friend the other day how I still get excited to go to your class even though I know I will be challenged. I love the way you change our workouts and reach every body part. Knowing I have your class to come back will help me watch the eating and hit the running track on my cruise. Thanks so much!!!Karen

Just wanted to write a few things down about my bootcamp journey with Commando Cardio and Ray Burton. I started bootcamp 2 1/2 months ago and was very nervous as I had never attempted anything like this before in my 40 + years. I should also mention that I have moderate -severe chronic asthma. On the first night I could do 21 squats in 1 minute, couldn’t do a proper sit-up to save my life(but Ray started me out with crunches!), and maybe I could push through 10 female sit-ups. Another measure of my fitness, or lack there of was my ability to make it up the Edworthy hill in approx. 6 minutes with some help at the end. Now, I am proud to say, I can do 55 squats in 1 minute, 36 male push-ups in 1 minute and I made it up that hill yesterday in 3 min. 30 sec. without any help!!! I have lost 20 pounds and many inches. Still more to go, but what a great start! My cardio fitness isn’t where I want it to be, but I am able to run with the group for so much longer than before!I am so thankful to have Ray as my leader through this journey. He is there along side all of us; and knows when to push and when to offer alternatives. He not only talks the talk, but walks the walk. He does all the exercises right along with us! That is such great motivation! What is also great is that no one gets left behind–ever; we perform as a group and with that group mentality comes so much needed encouragement when you don’t think you have it in you. Every single day at bootcamp is different so I never get bored. I am not sure how he comes up with all the different exercises, but I am glad that he does.

I have come so far in 2 1/2 months-I can’t wait to see where he will take me in months and years to come. It isn’t about the final destination, but about the journey. I walk straighter, have so much more confidence in all areas of my life because of this, and I have decreased my asthma medication by half.

The hardest part of the whole journey was getting up the nerve to get off the couch. I’m not saying that bootcamp is easy, because it isn’t; but it is very rewarding to say the least!

For most of my life I have been pretty active and trained in the gym on a regular basis. A few years ago I decided to take up bodybuilding, so I am no stranger to discipline and hard work. I loved it and trained hard for a long time but slowly lost interest. January 2010 I embarked on a 6 month travel adventure around the world. I not only gained a lifetime of experience, I also put on 28 lbs of pure fat!!!!! When I retuned it was summer and my clothes no longer fit. In August 2010 I joined Commando Cardio Bootcamp and have not looked back, it is great. I have lost most of my weight and alot more inches. I have gained a new perspective on my fitness and sheer determination as well as great friends. Thanks to Ray’s dedication, support and knowledge we can all succeed. It is hard work and it is amazing when the changes become visible. Thanks again Ray for everything, can’t wait to see what awaits this “old gals” body in 2011…….Brandi-Lyn Malysh

P.S. – Remember, there’s no question about if you’ll get results…only when. The sooner you start, the sooner your body will respond.
