The Holiday months can send any blogger scrambling to scrape a few extra dollars out of their blogs. Doing impulse buys and gift shopping sends even the most level headed book keeper into the red.

With most revenue making opportunities on the web, you can’t just make money over night. It takes years of building a system and then about the same time promoting it. There are short cuts but a sustained income source takes a while to build. Here is where Kontera text ads come into the picture though.

Like I was saying above, just like everyone else, I wanted to squeeze a few extra bucks out of my blog so I started searching. It’s been a while since I looked into anything new. For years it’s just been clickbank products, affiliate stuff and of course, bread and butter google adsense that I use. Then I started reading about Kontera in other people’s blogs.

It looked promising so I signed up. The next day I was accepted and about 5 minutes after I copied the Kontera code, I had an extra source of passive income. Instead of spending a lot of time and maybe some money building a new source of income, I used one that already existed and was available that I simply wasn’t taking advantage of.

So how much money with you make off your blog with Kontera ads? From my own experience after four days, it looks like you will make about 25% of what you would from adsense. So if you are making 20 dollars a day from adsense you will make an extra 5 dollars a day from Kontera Text Ads.

Maybe not extreme get rich kind of money but it’s the difference between making 600 dollars a month and making 750 dollars a month. ON ONE SITE. How many of us have more than one site? Ya, that’s what I thought.

So in the end, if you have a couple of sights that are basically making most of their income off adsense and not direct sales, adding Kontera ads into the mix could easily make a car payment for you by the end of the month. Why not? Its five minutes to cut and paste!

*Note: I do not have Kontera Ads on this blog at this point because..well, I’m still testing it on my other higher traffic blogs. The other reason is because its still nice to come to one of my sites and be able to read the content without seeing 15 double underlined links on the page! Shortly though if the revenue becomes high enough on the other sites, I will have to take the plunge and put the code on this site as well.

UPDATE ON KONTERA January 10, 2008

First the positives of Kontera content links:

  • They contact you and work on the backend to try and get your conversions up.
  • Kontera has a personal nature about them as seen in the comments below
  • You will make extra money using them.
  • Kontera content links have not effected my adsense CTR
  • My content links from Kontera seem to be on average about 1/3 of what adsense does in income over the same period without effecting adsense.

    • Update On Kontera January 14 2008:
    For January my Kontera revenue has dropped for about 1/3 of adsense to 1/5. I do not know if this is because regular site visitors now know what the links are and do not click so much or what. I do know that the CTR has dropped a percentage and is holding steady at around the 3% mark.

    The negative problems with Kontera
    They seem to have problems with thier earnings statistics in the user panel. This has been going on for over a week now and the error message you get when you log in seems to be a differant problem each time. Having said that, the numbers shown about what I earn during those periods of stats outage are consistant with the numbers shown when there were no problems. What I am saying is that even though they are having problems on the back end, they do not mess with your income..so far. I’ll keep you posted.

    Update On Kontera January 14 2008:
    All reporting is back up and working normaly. Nothing was affected by the outage.

    Bottom line?
    In my experiance so far, adding Kontera to my sites (not this one yet) has increased my blogs income by 1/3 for 5 minutes work to install. Kontera has not effected my affiliate program or adsense income either. So it’s looking like a good thing over here!
