For the longest time I just could not see how twitter was going to make me any money at all. Then I hear about Ad.ly this morning from John Chow. (A great source of information by the way but that’s a completely other article).
Day after day I would go into Buzzom and remove all my non followers and grow my twitter account by a few readers more. I thought that this was a pretty labour intensive task with no pay off in site but saw what Perry Belcher (sad to see he is laying low now… I liked that guy) was doing with twitter and social media and just couldn’t let another “build your email list” opportunity slip by. So I kept going.
Back to the email from John Chow. It started off by looking for decent sources of information to add to my google homepage and John Chow looked like a great RSS feed to add to the list. After reading a bit I wanted some more so I signed up for HIS email list and downloaded his “make money online” ebook.
It was good stuff. Enough that I learned some new things despite doing this for almost ten years now. You never know with the web when something new and worth while will pop up.
This is when I got the email about Ad.ly and tweeting for money. I went over and signed up. This seriously only took about 1 minute to set up.
Right now when you sign up for Ad.ly, you make 12% of anything the people that you send to sign up make PLUS you get entered into the running for a new MacBook.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what this new revenue source can produce for me. Apparently John Chow made $1000 for a single tweet on Ad.ly and I think that’s just about as awesome as making money online can get!
I’ll keep you posted and in the meantime… I think I’ll go over and make some more twitter friends
P.S. If you’ve never listened to Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield… you owe it to yourself.
