Welcome – I’ve been given the name Raymond Burton. It was given to me by my father Keith. Some call him skipper and others call him Captain, it just matters where you are in the family. We are from the east coast and there is a lot of fishermen talk that happens around here.Â

I was called Raymond L Burton after my later grandfather whom I loved very much. My father got $50 to name the first grandson as such.Â

My grandfather was always there for me and was always honorable. He would offer advice if it was asked for, and never speak about anyone who wasn’t in the room. I could be walking around North Sydney any time of the day or night and I knew that front door would be open.Â

When I opened that door, there would be warmth, calm and a pot of tea. After taking off my shoes I would look through the porch door and there would be gramps.Â

A thick mane of gray hair and a smile that could always light the darkest corners of a heart that felt clouded and unexplored.Â
