Here’s my take on the easiest thing to create and sell online. It’s a whole lot less work for way more money then what you are usually told.
I’m not going to try and hook you into this article.
I’m not going to drag this out to get a 65% + read ratio.
I’m just going to tell you the answer to the headline.
The easiest thing to create and sell online is a consultation call.
But that’s not the end of the story or the money…
Here is how you:
- Get an audience for it
- Set it up
- Make money off it
- And then make money off it again.
Here we go…
How to get an audience for your consult calls.
First thing is the most obvious thing. You create as much content as your schedule allows and you put a CTA to your newsletter in each piece of content. Then, at the bottom of each email you send out is a link to claim a free consult.
Yes, free for now.
Medium is a great place to post your content if you want to gain new subscribers to your newsletter for free. However, for speed, you have to pay for attention.
If you are really brave, you can include a link to reserve a free call at the end of your articles, as I did below.
Be prepared to edit out the free call option later because if the article takes off, you may get blasted with sign-ups. Mixed blessings, right?
You’re ready to charge money after a couple of free calls to test your system and social interaction skills.
How To Set Up Consult Calls
I use Calendly and Zoom. They have free and paid versions. You can use the free version to get your feet wet. The automation is worth it later so you can hand off the admin work.
Why this works: Calendly will show your availability for calls to the client. The client can pick the time slot they want out of the available hours. Integrations allow this to be booked into your Outlook calendar to remind you of what’s coming up.
You will also get the time adjusted for both parties, so there is no time zone confusion.
Zoom works great for me because I get a video recording that I later use:
- On Youtube.
- To create products
- For testimonials
- To transcribe for many reasons.
How you earn money twice off this.
Above, I said you could transcribe the video. Congrats. Now, with a bit of editing on that transcription, you have an e-book—a highly focused, problem-solving e-book.
You just made money on the call directly. You will also make money selling the e-book or course you create from the transcription. Books are cheap for the customer but don’t earn you much.
But….
Books are a great way of building trust with your new customers. They pay a little money and get great info. After that, they are willing to trust paying you even more for better stuff.
Low risk for them with a high reward.
